Leeds United enter their Boxing Day clash against Preston with the unusual form of no wins in their past two fixtures.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men welcome Preston knowing that a win against a team in the play-offs could extend their gap of nine points even further to the chasing pack.
Being back at Elland Road could be a big factor in the game, with any Christmas game in West Yorkshire always having a great atmosphere.
Ben Parker has recently examined Preston ahead of the Boxing Day clash and found a pattern that he was far from impressed with.
“A lot of the goals where they do score are at home, so coming away from the home record, going to away grounds, the away form is not that great,” he said on LUTV.
“The goals conceded, again, the breakdown again is not too much pattern how they concede their goals as well.”
So, on paper Alex Neil’s side will be considerably weaker than what we saw in the 1-1 draw at Deepdale earlier in the season.
Preston were unbeaten at home when they welcomed Leeds, and we were there to watch the action. The Whites should have come away with all three points quite easily, and a similar performance at home would surely secure the victory.
Patrick Bamford was low on confidence at that time and missed numerous clear-cut opportunities. Now, the 26-year-old can’t stop scoring and he won’t need any second chances to find the back of the net this time around – something which could be the difference.
