MOT View: 0 progressive runs – Leeds mainstay produces horror show v Burnley
Jack Harrison had an afternoon to forget as Leeds United laboured to a 1-0 win over Burnley at Elland Road.
Patrick Bamford’s early penalty proved to be the difference in Sunday’s tie as the Whites’ attackers failed to impress.
There was little to write home about in terms of the Leeds attack with the defence deserving all of the credit for the narrow win.
Harrison was arguably the worst performer on Sunday as he utterly failed to have a meaningful impact on the match.
The 24-year-old was unable to provide for Bamford and his stats from the game against Burnley show how poor Harrison was.
According to Wyscout, Harrison failed to complete a progressive run against Burnley which is incredibly poor for a winger.
Harrison also only completed 33% of his attempted dribbles as he struggled against a less than solid Burnley defence.
Only one of Harrison’s four attempted crosses found a player in White as Bamford was left demanding better service from his usual supplier.
The Englishman also only registered one touch in the Burnley penalty area which is very poor as this proves he was rarely in the position to score himself.
Harrison’s passing was incredibly poor as he only completed 55% of his total attempted passes.
For context, Harrison has been completing 73.3% of his passes per 90 minutes this season, according to Wyscout, which highlights his steep drop off.
He also didn’t impress defensively as the attacker only won 27% of his duels as Burnley turned up the pressure in the second half.
Overall, 56% of Harrison’s attempted actions against Burnley were unsuccessful which has to be a worry for Marcelo Bielsa.
It is astounding that Harrison was still on the pitch as the final whistle was blown as he was nothing but a spare shirt all afternoon.
