Leeds United transfer stance is exactly what supporters need to hear

Graeme Bailey’s claims that Leeds United are “not in a huge hurry” to offload any of their players in January is exactly what supporters will want to hear ahead of the transfer window.

The Whites will undoubtedly be looking to utilise the January transfer window in a bid to strengthen their promotion hopes with Louie Barry one of the players linked with a move to Elland Road (TEAMtalk).

Bamford has been rumoured to be one player heading out the exit door with a move to Wrexham mooted but Bailey told The Wrexham Insider (21 December) that “Leeds are not in a huge hurry to lose anyone this January” while reiterating that their focus remains firmly on achieving promotion.

His comments show that the Whites have their priorities in the right place and it should be cause for plenty of optimism at Elland Road.

Leeds United must prioritise incoming over outgoings in January

While there will inevitably be some exits in January, the Whites simply have to prioritise incomings if they are to remain in with a chance of achieving promotion this season.

Under the stewardship of Daniel Farke, Leeds have put themselves in an excellent position, sitting just three points off the summit of the Championship leaders Sheffield United but their ability to keep up may hinge on the business they can do in January.

That need for a good January was perhaps amplified on 23 December as Sheffield United announced their new takeoverm which will undoubtedly give them a huge boost for the remainder of the season and could open many doors for their own January business.

While Leeds have bags of talent in their squad, there are still areas of improvement that need to be addressed before any exit decisions are made, even on players featuring less often like Bamford.

January will likely be a very busy period for the Whites both on and off the pitch.
