Leeds United star Raphinha was awful at Anfield, 54% pass completion

It wasn’t a great night, to say the least, for Leeds United as they were pumped 6-0 away at Liverpool to further their relegation concerns.

Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane both scored braces with central defensive duo Joel Matip and Virgil van Dijk completing the scoring for the Reds.

Not one player in white could really hold their head high after such a dismal team performance but one, in particular, should be hanging his head in shame.

Raphinha was surprisingly dropped for the visit of Manchester United on Sunday but was reinstated for the trip to Merseyside.

Marcelo Bielsa probably wishes he had left him in Yorkshire though as the Brazilian turned in a truly woeful individual display that he should have been brought off for.

During the entire 90 minutes, the 25-year-old touched the ball just 33 times which averages out at roughly once every three minutes [WhoScored].

It’s also 22 times fewer than Whites goalkeeper Illan Meslier who, admittedly, had a very busy evening on Merseyside.

But it isn’t the lack of touches that is the worst part because Dan James only got 12 touches in 60 minutes but didn’t perform too badly.

It’s the dreadful pass completion rate of just 54% that will really irk Leeds fans and it was obvious watching that Raphinha wasn’t at the races.

Bielsa didn’t help himself though by making all three of his changes by the hour mark, meaning the Brazilian had to stay on and be a burden to his teammates.

On the rare occasions he got on the ball, his end product was pathetic, always overhitting passes and you could see the frustration of his pals.

Leeds United are now worryingly staring over their shoulder after Burnley picked up a shock win at home to Tottenham to close the gap to the Whites.
