Leeds United ready to hold Serie A duo to ransom after Wilfried Gnonto exit update
Leeds United supporters won’t be enjoying the international break, but they will certainly be happy to see the back of the transfer window.
While the Whites ended their summer with a late flurry of incoming business at Elland Road, there will still be a sense of frustration that so many key members of Daniel Farke’s side were sold.
All three of Archie Gray, Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter made the step up to the Premier League and while they were replaced, their departures have dented the Whites’ automatic promotion hopes slightly.
However, Leeds did manage to keep hold of Wilfried Gnonto and went one step further after the transfer window slammed shut by tying the Italian international down to new terms at Elland Road.
Reports suggest that the winger’s new contract doesn’t include any exit clauses, meaning that the Whites will be able to dictate the terms of his departure if he does move away from Yorkshire [Graham Smyth, 31 August].
Will Wilfried Gnonto exit Leeds United amid Elland Road transfer rumours?
Gnonto’s new contract doesn’t appear to have prevented any clubs from considering a move for the attacker however, with reports suggesting Genoa and Parma are interested in his signature [Milan Live, 7 September].
Leeds are now in a position however to hold both clubs to ransom and demand a mega-money fee for his services, especially now that they have balanced their books with several big-money sales in the summer.
Of course, every player does have a valuation and if that is met the Whites could well have a decision to make. Until then, however, it seems unlikely that Gnonto will be going anywhere in January, especially as Leeds look to win promotion.

Even if a deal is agreed between the two clubs, there has been little to suggest that the Italian International himself would be interested in making the move to the Serie A.
He never submitted a request to leave Elland Road this summer and it seems unlikely he would have put pen to paper on fresh terms if he was in any rush to complete his exit [Beren Cross, 19 August].
Hopefully, this interest is little more than paper talk which will die down once the International break comes to an end.
