Leeds United must hurry Joe Rodon transfer after latest Leicester City development

Leeds United are still attempting to lead Tottenham defender Joe Rodon back to Elland Road ahead of the 2024/25 campaign.

The 25-year-old was a key player for Daniel Farke as the Whites narrowly missed out on promotion back to the Premier League, though he has now returned to Spurs at the end of his loan deal.

It is well-established that both parties are keen for the centre-back to return to Elland Road next season, preferably on a permanent deal with the North London side wanting his summer exit.

However, Leeds are not the only team interested in Rodon this summer, with his Championship displays attracting the likes of Leicester City, Ipswich Town and Southampton, who all secured promotion this season. [Football.London]

The first of the three teams, Leicester, may have just been handed a major boost after Steve Cooper was named manager of the Foxes ahead of their 2024/25 Premier League campaign.

Cooper, who has taken the role left by Enzo Maresca this summer, has a history with the defender, having been at Swansea City together before Spurs came knocking for the player’s signature in 2020.

Leeds United must act fast to secure Joe Rodon transfer as Leicester City lurk

While Cooper only had one full season with Rodon in defence at the Swansea.com Stadium, he only had good things to say about the player upon his exit from the club in 2020.

Considering Leicester’s known interest in the player, and the new manager’s past relationship with him, Leeds must put everything into securing Rodon’s signature before he is claimed by another club.

Of course, the current need to pay unpaid transfer fees at Elland Road makes any deal much harder, but it seems like a no-brainer transfer after the season he just had in Yorkshire.

It is only a matter of time before one of the three aforementioned clubs go knocking at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and with the club’s stance on the player, it is only a matter of time before he leaves.
