Leeds United handed massive Piotr Zielinski transfer boost as Inter star faces ‘difficult’ situation

Leeds are also preparing transfer for the upcoming January transfer window.

While Daniel Farke’s side have had a good start to the 2025-26 campaign, they are far from safe yet.

A key position Leeds are supposedly chasing is a new midfielder, as they look to add much-needed quality to their squad.

As a result, one player who has been linked to Elland Road is Piotr Zielinski, who currently plays for Inter Milan.

Now, Farke may have received a big boost in his pursuit of the Poland international.

Jan Urban sends World Cup warning to Piotr Zielinski

So far this season, Zielinski has struggled to break into Inter’s first team.

In the Serie A, he has been limited to just three appearances, with each one coming from the bench.

In fact, the only game he has started was in the Champions League, when Inter beat Slavia Praha 3-0 at the end of September.

With the World Cup on the horizon, Zielinski would have expected to be a star player if Poland reach the tournament next summer.

However, Poland manager Jan Urban has issued a potential warning to the Inter star about how the lack of game time could affect his international career.

He told FC Inter News: “I wouldn’t say Piotr has a major problem. He’s actually missed a few games, but it’s hard to say yet because it’s unclear whether he’ll play in the near future. He might get more minutes.

“If not, we’ll say in November that the situation is difficult. If someone doesn’t play for a short period, they haven’t lost their fitness.

“But if the situation continues, he’ll lack rhythm and won’t be able to show what he’s capable of.”

Therefore, this news will be music to Farke’s ears. Zielinski will not want to miss out on a potential World Cup, and could push for a move in January.

At Leeds, the midfielder would almost be guaranteed regular game time, and would have a great chance to showcase his abilities in the best league in the world.

As a result, the Peacocks are currently in a great position to finalise a deal for the Inter star and improve their survival chances in Leeds’ current relegation battle.

How good is Zielinski?

Based on last season’s performances in the Serie A, Zielinski would be a fine addition at Elland Road.

According to Fotmob on 8 October, the midfielder is capable of providing a significant attacking threat, averaging 0.19 goals per game.

On top of this, he is also excellent creatively, making numerous chances a match while boasting an average 92.5 per cent passing completion rate.

Therefore, Leeds would do extremely well to finalise the transfer, with Zielinski having the potential to be a game-changer for Farke.

Hopefully, the Peacocks can get the deal over the line before another club swoops in.
