Leeds United: Daniel Farke stance made clear as Charlie Cresswell dropped to Under-21s today

Daniel Farke has already let his feelings about Charlie Cresswell be known at Leeds United this season, and the most recent update will be further bad news for the defender.

The 21-year-old had fallen out with the first-team manager earlier in the season due to his lack of game time. Despite earning his spot back in the squad, he has still only started one Championship match.

Considering the Whites are set to face Middlesbrough in the Championship at the Riverside Stadium later on the same day, this would suggest that the defender has not even been picked for Farke’s matchday squad.

It has been an incredibly disappointing campaign for the youngster, especially after his decent loan spell at Millwall during the 2022/23 season, though he has only made seven Leeds appearances since then.

Even with Pascal Struijk’s long-term injury, and the constant shifting of players in defence, the Thorp Arch graduate has been unable to make any sort of desired impact in the first team.

With this in mind, Cresswell will probably be wishing that the move to AC Milan during the January transfer window never fell through and he was showcasing his talents in Italy right now.

The 21-year-old is certainly a talented centre-back and one with plenty of potential, but for some reason has not been able to persuade Farke to give him a chance in the senior team.

Being cast out to the youth team again will be yet another body blow in an already disappointing Leeds career, with it meaning he is unlikely to travel with the squad to Middlesbrough.

In other Leeds United news, Graham Smyth has shared a “serious” admission after the Whites posted their accounts.
