Leeds United can steal march on Premier League elite amid Lennon Miller update

Leeds United beating Premier League and top-level European clubs to the signing of Lennon Miller would be a massive statement.

Speaking to LeedsUnited.news (29 November), journalist Graham Bailey said the Whites are one of several clubs across Europe keen on Miller, having “watched him closely” in the Motherwell midfield.

With Old Firm duo Celtic and Rangers, RB’s Salzburg and Leipzig and half the Premier League keeping tabs on Miller [TBR Football, 28 November], United signing the 18-year-old would be one hell of a coup.

“Leeds have a rich history with Scottish football and it is not shock to see them interested in Lennon Miller,” Bailey said.

“Miller basically has his pick of clubs, Leeds hope to be in the mix but given the interest in him it will be tough to land him.”

Leeds can make statement of intent with Lennon Miller transfer

Although Miller’s future does look set to be decided in the upcoming January transfer window – likely ruling the Peacocks out of the running – a summer move could prove to be a perfect fit at Elland Road.

Joining a freshly-promoted United side, provided they do seal their Premier League return this season, would likely see Miller given much more game time at the top level than at many of the other clubs linked.

Daniel Farke’s midfield has been through plenty of chopping and changing since their relegation in 2023, but the German appears to have rolled a pair of six-sided dice in the form of Ao Tanaka and Joe Rothwell.

Unlike Tanaka, who has been a revelation in LS11 since arriving from Fortuna Dusseldorf, Rothwell is only on a loan deal from Bournemouth and it remains to be seen if the Whites would want him permanently.

Further forward, United are still hopeful of filling the number 10 void left by Georginio Rutter’s departure to Brighton in August, and a mercurial talent like Miller would certainly help to fit the bill.

A Premier League Leeds midfield under Farke’s tutelage is an unknown quantity for the moment, but if he does take the club back to the promised land, Miller would certainly prove to be a statement signing.
