Leeds United are absolutely doomed if Jeff Stelling is right about Aston Villa

Leeds United will surely be doomed to being relegated from the Premier League is Jeff Stelling’s predictions turn out to be correct this week.

Last weekend’s results were horrific for the Whites, who lost to Manchester City and saw Burnley and Everton both win.

Everton have the wind in their sails after their 1-0 win over Chelsea while the Toffees also boast a game in hand, a better goal difference than Leeds and far easier fixtures.

Burnley, on the other hand, have the same number of remaining fixtures as Leeds – four – but are above the Whites in the table on goal difference.

Burnley face Aston Villa twice in their remaining four games with their first meeting being held this weekend [7 May] at Turf Moor.

Writing on the Super 6 website, Sky Sports host Stelling has backed Burnley to win that game 1-0 to pile even more misery on Leeds in their hopes of securing Premier League survival.

If Stelling’s prediction is correct, Leeds lose as expected away at Arsenal and Everton win at Leicester, Jesse Marsch’s side will be in the relegation zone with three games to play.

That’ll be it for Leeds, as far as we’d be concerned.

Marsch’s injury-depleted squad will have three games against Chelsea, Brighton and Brentford to save their skins while Everton and Burnley would be continuing on with their winning ways in easier fixtures.

And the cost of relegation would surely be disastrous for Leeds.

According to a report by LeedsLive in January, Leeds would lose over £100million if they drop back into the Championship.

The report said: “If the worst was to happen and they were relegated from the Premier League, there would still be a hefty payment in order, likely to be just over £100m.

“However, the issue would come the following year if Leeds were not able to achieve promotion.”

Either way, relegation is a massive threat now.

It all seems to be out of our hands and we just need to pray that people like Stelling are wrong about Burnley and they suffer a collapse because we feel as though Everton’s win against Chelsea is leading to them getting just over the line.

In other Leeds United news, six Leeds players are reportedly “ruled out” of the game against Arsenal.
