Late transfer window blow for Leeds as Sky Sports claim PL loan deal agreed
Leeds United were hoping to get a late January window windfall through the sale of Danny Rose from Tottenham.
The 29-year-old left-back moved to Spurs from Leeds back in 2007 for just less than a million and he went with a sell-on clause.
Leeds Live reported that was a tasty 10% of any profit Tottenham make and after being linked with a move heavily last summer it finally looked like Leeds were going to cash-in this January.
The Telegraph reported that Tottenham were going to listen to offers for Rose.
Unfortunately, Sky Sports have now reported that Newcastle have agreed a deal to take him on loan, which means no cash for Leeds – at least for now.
Rose’s deal with Tottenham is up in the summer of 2021 and he could still make a permanent move at the end of this season.
However, his value is slipping all the time and it seems unlikely that he will sign a new contract with Tottenham.
He was rumoured to have had a bust-up with manager Jose Mourinho, after being left out of the game against Watford.
Leeds are still holding out for a financial boost from one sell-on clause this January – from former player Ronaldo Vieira.
He was sold for £6.4m to Sampdoria and could now be set for a £14m move to Everton.
