Daniel Farke must sign ‘generational talent’ for Leeds United who has 22 G/A this season
A strong January transfer window can see Leeds United continue their momentum in the second half of the season.
Daniel Farke’s men have been on an incredible run since the start of December to pull eight points clear of relegation after losing just one of their last eight matches.
The German boss is now looking to invest in his squad, and Leeds have already lined up a deal for Danilho Doekhi from Union Berlin, but face competition from Wolfsburg for his signature.
Doekhi has been compared to Virgil van Dijk due to his stature and aerial prowess, but the Dutchman isn’t the only player potentially heading to Elland Road.
Leeds should return for Eduard Spertsyan
The summer transfer window was dominated by Farke searching for a number 10 to either rival or replace Brenden Aaronson.
That saw Leeds launch a late move for Eduard Spertsyan from Krasnodar in the Russian Premier League, but the 25-year-old opted against leaving.
Since then, the Armenian international has destroyed Russia’s top division with an impressive eight goals and 13 assists in 18 appearances this term.
Combining his incredible vision, flair and creativity from an attacking midfield position, Spertsyan has proven impossible to stop, and he’s arguably shown that he’s ready for the Premier League.
Krasnodar previously valued their midfield metronome at around £10million, and that would have been a steal for any club.
PSR problems for Leeds and an inflated asking price could derail any chance of landing him this month, but he would be a massive improvement on their current options.
High praise from Mislintat.

Spertsyan is a generational talent. Hopefully he gets the chance to showcase this talent to the world. Starting with Turkey on Friday. https://t.co/HYtTk44zON
Spertsyan already opened door to Leeds transfer
When asked about links to other clubs in the summer – including Championship side Southampton – Spertsyan outlined his ambition of playing in the Champions League, but also left the door open to a potential winter transfer.
“All championships are good. Our championship is not bad either,” Spertsyan said via ARM Sport in August.
“I want to play in the Champions League and European Cups. Southampton is a good and strong team, but many factors have to coincide. In the winter, anything is possible. Why not [become a Krasnodar legend]?”
The Armenian maestro said that “anything is possible” in the January transfer window, and with Leeds looking for an attacking midfielder this month, surely a move for Spertsyan is on the cards after working with Farke previously.
