Jaka Bijol has struggled to force his way into the Leeds United team this season.

Leeds signed Bijol from Udinese in a £17million deal, but he has featured just once in the Carabao Cup since moving to Elland Road.

Daniel Farke has preferred the tried and tested partnership of Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk, and as a result, Bijol has not featured nearly as much as he might have expected.

However, the German surely has to take notice of the 26-year-old sooner rather than later, especially after his antics away from Yorkshire.

Slovenian media blown away by what Jaka Bijol did away from Leeds

Bijol was one of several Leeds players on international duty, and he starred in Slovenia's 0-0 draw with Kosovo on 10 October.

He played the full 90 minutes as part of a back three, earning rave reviews from the media in his country.

Ekipa handed the Whites star a seven out of 10 rating, saying: "He didn't seem to be too familiar with the fact that he was essentially out of competitive minutes at Leeds.

"He led the defense with great authority, this time in a three-man formation."

Delo claims that he contributed to the attack, setting up Timi Max Elsnik in the first half, and then having a tame header that did not threaten the goalkeeper in the second half.

Daniel Farke surely has to consider starting role for Bijol

Bijol is pushing on the door for an opportunity, and surely Farke has to consider giving him one after his latest exploits.

He has shown exactly why the LS11 outfit signed him, with a towering defensive effort and even trying to contribute going forward.

  • Bijol has 66 caps for his country, with one goal in that time
  • He made 34 appearances for Udinese in Serie A last season
  • So he clearly can cut it at the top level of the game

Bijol needs to be playing, and if he maintains this form on the international stage, Farke cannot ignore him for much longer.

The German may not want to adjust his side while they are performing well, but the Slovenian defender is making it hard to keep him on the sidelines.

If it continues, he may demand an exit when the transfer market reopens, and that would be a bad look for the Whites.
