Daniel Farke ‘bad news’ ahead of Bournemouth clash could be blessing for Leeds United
Leeds United have already won two games in the Premier League this season, with victories over Wolves and Everton to their name.
It’s been a busy couple of months at Elland Road and the work doesn’t slow down, with Leeds already planning for the January transfer window.
Full focus needs to remain on matters ahead as Daniel Farke prepares his Leeds squad for Bournemouth on Saturday.
Ahead of a testing match for Leeds United, Farke has spoken to the media and delivered what he believes to be a “bad” piece of news.

Daniel Farke reveals Willy Gnonto won’t be available vs Bournemouth
While speaking on Thursday, Farke provided updates on his team, with Noah Okafor a doubt for Leeds. He also gave insight into Willy Gnonto‘s situation.
“Some bad news with Willy Gnonto, he won’t make it. There’s still some problems with his calf. He is not back in team training so he will definitely also miss the match,” Farke said.
“I hope to have him back in team training next week.”
- Gnonto has made four appearances for Leeds in the Premier League this year
- He has only ever scored twice for Leeds in the Premier League
- The Italian was absent from Leeds’ 3-1 away win to Wolves
The 21-year-old featured in Leeds’ first four Premier League games this season. One of them was in his side’s first win of the season against Everton, where Leeds scored after he came off and won the game 1-0.
He is to see out a full 90 minutes this season amid concerns over his fitness. The Premier League is the most demanding league in the world and Gnonto shouldn’t be playing if he isn’t up to speed.
That being said, he was absent in Leeds’ best performance of the season against Wolves, so being without Gnonto against Bournemouth could yet prove a blessing in disguise.

Noah Okafor can shine for Leeds United in Willy Gnonto’s absence
Okafor was taken off in Leeds’ win at Molineux after scoring his team’s third and final goal of the evening.
The summer signing has shown major signs of promise and has done something that Gnonto hasn’t been able to do – score.
More game time for the Swiss international means more time that he has to adapt to English football and perform at his highest level.
With Dan James nearing a return, Farke could be about to strike the right balance in Leeds United’s attack, as Dominic Calvert-Lewin is also impressing.
