Adam Forshaw in race against time for Leeds United contract as Javi Gracia mystery builds

Adam Forshaw is “facing a race against time” to win a new contract at Leeds United with his existing terms expiring in the summer, according to LeedsLive.

Journalist Beren Cross reported on his Twitter account on 7 March that Forshaw, 31, has “another big fight on his hands” after previously having to win a new contract despite being fought with injury issues.

The ex-Middlesbrough midfielder has played just six times for the senior side this season.

Cross reports on the LeedsLive website that we’re unlikely to know when Forshaw is expected to be back as new manager Javi Gracia likes to shroud injury timescales with mystery and not reveal anything to the media in his press conferences.

Fair enough

It’s a new approach from Gracia – and we like it.

Jesse Marsch liked to give out a lot of information on injuries and he’d usually get hopes up about a player returning from a setback, only for them to be not seen again for weeks.

That’s not his fault, by the way. Players like Patrick Bamford would be on the verge of a comeback numerous times before another setback, making the ex-Leeds manager look silly.

But playing it cool and not revealing anything is a better way of dealing with things.

Some fans won’t like it and some journalists might not either because it means that they don’t have any injury stories to report on until it’s after the fact.

With Forshaw, though, we probably are owed a bit of an update but either way, he’s not good enough to play in this side whether he’s as fit as a fiddle or not.
