49ers talks with Newcastle United could see Leeds United seal priority Karl Darlow transfer

With Daniel Farke now in place at Elland Road, Leeds United and the 49ers Enterprises will shift their attention to transfers once their takeover is finalised.

That should also happen this week with the German already holding talks over what he wants to bring into the squad ahead of the Championship season starting.

Leeds will have areas that they want to strengthen already, but impending exits could see those plans changing with each passing day during the window.

Beren Cross of Leeds Live has shed more light on the transfer front, with the priority already said to be bringing in a new goalkeeper for the Whites.

Illan Meslier is expected to move on for a decent fee, with Joel Robles also not being offered another contract at the club, as things stand.

This comes after the exit of Marcos Abad too, with plenty of changes expected in that area this summer.

Interestingly, Leeds have already held talks with Newcastle United over the signing of Karl Darlow in this window, with the Englishman expected to join them or Bournemouth [Sky Sports].

Big wages are said to be on offer at both clubs with a permanent exit now likely, with Middlesbrough being forced to drop out of the race already.

Get it done.

The ball is in Darlow’s court, but there is a simple question that needs answering.

Would he prefer to sit on the bench every week at Bournemouth behind their captain, Neto, or would he want to be a number one every week potentially pushing Leeds to promotion?

Given that he left Newcastle on loan to play on loan at Hull last season, we think we know the answer and the 49ers look to have started dialogue to get this one over the line.

It could prove to be a priority transfer.
