What Troy Deeney has said about Daniel Farke contract extension after Leeds United vs Nottingham Forest
Troy Deeney is hugely impressed at the turnaround at Leeds United under Daniel Farke.
The Whites made it two wins in two to start the season after another win against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, this time in the Carabao Cup.
Farke's side already beat the Reds at the City Ground in their Premier League opener on Saturday, and have another victory over Oliver Glasner, with their name in the hat for the third round.
It's been flawless start to the 2026-27 campaign for Leeds, though some will be concerned about whether it's Farke's last dance at Elland Road.
Paraag Marathe and Co. are yet to agree new terms with the German head coach, who has left rather cryptic comments about his future earlier this year.
Deeney is every Leeds fan, and thinks Farke should be handed a nice new deal, especially after witnessing another top performance against Forest.
Everything Troy Deeney has said about Daniel Farke contract extension
It has been reported that Leeds have held contract talks with Farke, though nothing is understood to be advanced.
It has gone quiet on the front of a renewal, with the 49-year-old currently set to depart LS11 at the end of the season.
Usually, clubs iron out any managerial contract negotiations before a summer window, if needed, but that's not been the case with the Whites.
The Leeds boss showed once again in the 2-0 victory over Forest that he is the man to lead the Whites into a new era.
While speaking after the game on CBS Sports Golazo, Deeney, who is now often a pundit on Premier League games, offered his verdict on Farke and if Leeds should hand him a new deal.
Deeney said: "Remember they got promoted and he was giving out vibes like he didn't feel like he was going to be there at the start of the following season.
"Give credit where it's due, he's handled that pressure fantastically well and turned them into a position where they are thinking they need to give him a contract for two or three years and build the whole thing."
Many Leeds fans would agreed with Deeney's words, as the former Watford striker went on to explain how he has been very impressed with the Whites after their first two games of the season.
Farke's most recent comments on the situation gives Leeds fans some insight into when they may get clarity over his future.
When Leeds fans could get clarity on Farke's future
Before Leeds' summer window really got rolling, Farke dropped hints that he would leave the club if visions do not align.
Unsurprisingly, there was reported interest from his home country of Germany, and a move to the Bundesliga cannot be ruled off the table.
However, Farke's latest comments on 20 August gave supporters some much-needed insight.
The Whites boss said, as quoted by Leeds Live: "We're on the 20th of August, the transfer window shuts in 10 days’ time and two days before the start of the season.
"We head into a week with three games within seven days, and you have more important topics to speak about than my contract."
Farke went on to explain that he will comment on his contract situation after the international break in September, which could be a very long three-week wait for Leeds fans.
