Leeds United dragged into Danny Rohl exit saga at Rangers as new claim made
Leeds United have been dragged into the ongoing Danny Rohl saga at Rangers.
Red Bull Salzburg want to bring the Ibrox boss to Austria, and former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is supposedly pushing the move.
The Whites and the Govan side are both owned by the 49ers Enterprises group, but the running of the clubs are kept separate.
Paraag Marathe, the LS11 outfit's chairman stepped down from his involvement with the Glasgow-based outfit, due to UEFA regulations.
The sides are still linked, though, and there have been reports that transfer business could happen between them.
The Elland Road team have now been mentioned in relation to the Die Roten Bullen's attempts to hire Rohl.
What has been said about Leeds and Danny Rohl?
Leeds' connections to the Red Bull group, who have a minority ownership stake, may have played a factor in the approach for Rohl, as a new claim was made in Scotland.
Daily Record reporter Scott McDermott believes that there is no way that the Gers did not know about the interest before it broke, due to those links.
He said: "I don’t believe for a minute that Red Bull Salzburg have made this interest know in the last 48 hours.
"This is an organisation that have close links to Leeds United, and close links to Rangers via 49ers Enterprises.
"They must have known there was interest there, and must have known he was on a list of potential managerial candidates."
Why Leeds will be thankful amid Red Bull connection
Leeds will be thankful that there is no interest in Farke, as his contract situation is very perilous at the moment.
He has just one year left on the deal that he signed when he joined the club in 2023.
Marathe has assured supporters that the ownership wants to tie the manager down beyond the end of next season, but so far, there has been no agreement between the sides.
Until that deal is signed, sealed and delivered, the Peacocks will be vulnerable to their own boss being targeted.
Luckily, the Red Bull club have chosen to go down the Rangers route, than come in for Farke, but they need to sort it out as soon as possible, so other clubs can't take advantage.
They have probably gone for Farke's fellow German since he already had tied with the group, after working for them for eight years, between 2010 and 2018.
That probably explains why they have not made a move for Farke, despite his ability and the connection that they have with the Whites.
