Harry Gray reacts to Henrik Pedersen sacking as Leeds United loan takes unexpected twist
Harry Gray hasn't caught the eye as expected at Sheffield Wednesday so far this season.
Leaving Leeds United on loan for a second time this summer, he has been given the full season at Hillsborough.
After shining in League One with Rotherham, it's been somewhat of a surprise to see him struggle slightly.
And now, his immediate future is up in the air.
That's because Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed the surprise sacking of Henrik Pedersen on Sunday.
Two defeats in five days have seen the Owls drop to eighth, enough for the manager to be given his marching orders.
How has Harry Gray reacted?
It was a short-but-sweet relationship with his latest loan manager for the young striker.
Gray played 90 minutes in a 2-0 defeat against Notts County in midweek, before missing out at Doncaster on Saturday.
It was the same result that saw fans called for Pedersen to be sacked, and they got their wish on 25 October.
Taking to his personal Instagram account after the announcement, Gray shared an image of him and the ex-boss.
He wrote, "All the best, Henrik."
How has Harry Gray performed?
Starting the season with no points deduction after their takeover, many had Wednesday favourites for promotion in League One.
As seen with Leicester as well, though, nothing is guaranteed.
Gray hasn't really helped matters, but he has been mainly forced to play out of position on the left, rather than through the middle.
That has seen him score only once, adding zero assists in his seven appearances so far.
Daniel Farke will have hoped for much more, having given him his senior debut at Leeds two seasons ago against Stoke.
With Liam Cooper alongside him at Hillsborough, he'll be in his ear trying to learn as much as possible about what it means to play for Leeds and keep his spot at Elland Road long term.
Right now, that isn't looking likely, but there is plenty of time in his career to turn it around, starting in south Yorkshire.
Pedersen leaving may not sound like amazing news, but a new manager with fresh ideas could actually unlock Gray.
As for Leeds, that's all they will want for their young attacker.
