Leeds United are expect to announce a new contract for Daniel Farke in the near future.

The German has been in charge at Elland Road since the summer of 2023.

Farke was the first appointment made by the 49ers Enterprises when they acquire the Whites from Andrea Radrizzani.

The former Norwich City boss took two bites of the cherry to get Leeds back in the Premier League, but did so as champions in the 2024/25 campaign.

Since then, Leeds earned a respectable 14th-place finish last term, and have big ambitions in the Premier League moving forward.

As such, a new contract is said to be on the cards in the very near future, though Adam Pope speculated it might not come immediately.

What's the latest with Daniel Farke's Leeds contract?

Beren Cross reported for the Athletic on Friday that Leeds and Farke have reached an agreement in principle over a new contract.

It is said that Farke has agreed terms on a new deal that will run until the summer of 2029 at Elland Road.

However, the report added that Farke could not sign his deal yet as there are still some finer points to be ironed out.

BBC Radio Leeds broadcaster Pope would later follow up to report that Farke had parted company with his representatives.

Pope described that scenario as an obstacle that may now have been cleared, but speculated that Leeds would not make an announcement in the immediate future.

Speaking on the Don't Go To Bed Just Yet podcast, Pope said: "We've talked a few times in a different way what Paraag Marathe has said, what Robbie Evans the MD (managing director) has said.

"And what Daniel has said, 'I love working here, I love working for Paraag'. Robbie says 'we're working towards to it, it might take time', Paraag said 'Leeds fans were hoping he's here for many more games'.

"All that suggests, and that's been very recent, and some of that, if not all of it, may have been done since Daniel parted company with his agency.

"So, it begs the question, what was happening? And this was the thing that Jon Newsome, who is an agent, raised with us wasn't it? Was that a bit of a sticking point, was the agent a sticking point?

"So, are they now converging quicker because there's maybe not an obstacle in the way and they'll get there in the end? But I don't get the impressions we're going to be sat here in 24 hours time and suddenly they're going to announce it.

"They may do, who knows? But I certainly see it as a positive thing that what has happened, and if the report is correct it's very, very positive."

When will Leeds make a contract announcement on Daniel Farke?

The truth is, no one seems to be really quite sure.

News that Farke is ready to commit his future has been floating around for the past couple of months.

But, for whatever reason, there has yet to be anything formally announced by the club, which is a bit of a surprise.

You could be forgiven for thinking that perhaps something will get announced now the Manchester United game is out of the way.

It be could be, though, that nothing gets said officially now until the next international break, with Farke's focus on Leeds' Premier League campaign.

Ultimately, it looks almost certain to get done, so it's just a case of "watch this space".
