‘Wow’, ‘Disgrace’, ‘Embarrassing’ – Many Leeds fans furious after manager comments to Sky Sports
The Premier League made its return on Wednesday night but the game between Aston Villa and Sheffield United was far from a glorious advert for the game – and one incident raised the hackles of Leeds United fans.
The two sides played out a turgid 0-0 draw although Sheffield United should really have had the three points.
In a much-talked-about incident, Orjan Nyland carried the ball clearly over the line but Hawkeye malfunctioned and the goal wasn’t given.
Leeds fans were up in arms after the infamous incident in the game with Aston Villa last season.
The Villa players and staff were up in arms after Leeds scored when they had a player on the ground. Msrcelo Bielsa let them score from kick-off unobstructed.
So, did Dean Smith order his players to do the same? Absolutely not, despite their players knowing full well what had happened.
Worse, after the game, talking to Sky Sports, Smith said he didn’t even consider letting the Sheffield United players to score unopposed.
His justification? He said Villa have had enough decisions go against them.
Leeds called Aston Villa out on its official Twitter account and Whites fans absolutely piled onto Smith’s comments. And rightly so. You can’t have it both ways in football and there are plenty of Leeds fans wanting Villa to get relegated now, by way of Karma.
Here are the best reactions from angry Leeds fans…
