Sky Sports pundit: This is what every pundit is saying about Leeds ahead of clash v Cardiff

Sky Sports pundit David Prutton has said that every pundit he’s talked to is “adamant” that both Leeds United and West Brom will go on to secure promotion to the Premier League.

Prutton was writing ahead of the Championship restart next Saturday with Leeds set to play Cardiff on Sunday in a midday kick-off.

He also made mention of the comments made by Adam Forshaw last week, who said that promotion is a “formality” and that Leeds would “romp it”.

That didn’t go down well with all the Leeds fans, who think it showed over-confidence with just a seven-point buffer back to third and a huge clash coming up against Fulham a week on Saturday.

Writing in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post, Prutton said, “Confidence in all of the many shapes and forms that it takes helps teams become successful and success for Leeds is promotion so if confidence equals promotion then Leeds will look back on that and say ‘thanks very much Adam.’

“I have done different podcasts and chats with different pundits and pundits that I know and then ones that I have not worked with so much before.

“Everyone I have had the pleasure of chatting to seems adamant that Leeds and West Brom are going to do it automatically.”

We don’t mind what Forshaw said.

You can understand why Leeds fans don’t want to tempt fate but if you can’t go in with a swagger when you’re seven points clear ahead of a nine-game mini-season, when can you?

Sport is built around confidence. The last thing the Leeds players would want is to go onto the pitch wracked with doubt.

Bielsa will be building them up and they’ll know deep down that when they’re at their best, they’re better than any team in the Championship.

They’re on a five-game winning run without conceding a goal and will be looking to pick up where they left off next Sunday.

The first two games aren’t easy though. Cardiff away is a tricky game and then it’s Fulham at Elland Road. Two wins from these and we imagine most fans will share Forshaw’s confidence.
