'Wondering what’s hit them' – David Healy makes Leeds prediction ahead of clash v Cardiff
David Healy has confidently predicted that Leeds United will be promoted to the Premier League once the Championship season restarts.
The Whites hero also believes that Marcelo Bielsa will cause problems for many top-flight clubs if he remains at Elland Road next season.
Leeds are currently seven points clear of Fulham in third and travel to Cardiff City on Sunday afternoon.
Healy wasn’t surprised by the struggles midway through the season, admitting that it won’t have an effect on the final positions.
“Obviously they had their little blip in and around new year which can be expected in a Championship with so many games,” he told the Yorkshire Evening Post.
“When they do get promoted – I saw the game against Arsenal – if they go up and have Bielsa in charge, I would imagine some of the managers coming up against him will be wondering what’s hit them, that’s for sure.”
Every single club has had a blip this season, but when you look at the bigger picture, since October, no other side apart from Leeds and West Brom have been in the top two [Sky Sports].
When you look at expert Nate Silver’s predicted table at the end of the season, that helps Healy’s comments as well [FiveThirtyEight].
According to Silver, Leeds currently stand a 98% chance of earning promotion this season, and a couple of wins against both Cardiff and Fulham would boost that closer to the 100%.
