'What a signing' - Ian Wright & Micah Richards awestruck by Leeds 24-year-old v WBA

Ian Wright and Micah Richards have been blown away by the impact of Leeds United winger Raphinha this season.

The Brazilian superstar fired home his second goal for the Whites in the 5-0 win over West Brom last night, and Richards labelled it a Goal of the Season contender.

Add to that his two assists against Manchester United and the winger has made a brilliant start to life in the Premier League under Marcelo Bielsa.

Speaking on Match of the Day on Tuesday night, both Richards and Wright were delighted with the impact that Raphinha has made at Elland Road.

“It’s a wonder-goal, it’s got to be a contender for goal of the season,” Richards said.

“What a signing he has been for them, what a signing.”

Wright also agreed and made bold comparisons with other wingers in the Premier League who have cost much more.

“Raphinha, you mention him, from Rennes, £17million, you think to yourself – when you’re looking at some of the wingers in this league that cost a little bit more than him, not doing half the things what he’s doing.”

The 24-year-old was much more efficient against West Brom and scored from one of his two shots all evening according to WhoScored.

Compare that to the 5-2 win over Newcastle weeks ago, Raphinha attempted seven shots on goal and didn’t find the back of the net once.

According to WhoScored, it was the wingers’ best performance of the season and Marcelo Bielsa will be delighted with the impact he has been making.

When you compare him to the likes of Chelsea’s Timo Werner and Kai Havertz, who have both struggled despite costing more than £100million combined, and Victor Orta has uncovered a real gem.
