Leeds United midfielder Mateusz Klich has picked up a fresh injury blow in the 5-0 thrashing of West Brom on Tuesday evening.

Marcelo Bielsa confirmed the news after the game at the Hawthorns, claiming it was a thigh problem for the Polish international.

Klich was replaced midway through the second half, with Jamie Shackleton coming on for a cameo performance where he impressed.

This doesn't sound like very good news for Leeds.

BBC journalist Adam Pope relayed the news on his personal Twitter account, with Bielsa uncertain on how severe the blow is for Klich.

"Bielsa says Klich has a knock to his thigh but it’s not certain how severe it is," he wrote.

Klich has come in for some criticism recently for his performances, and has looked is desperate need of a rest in the Premier League.

We were hoping that would come in the FA Cup against Crawley, but instead he could now miss the upcoming game with Tottenham.

Shackleton is the obvious candidate to come in, and he did impress at the Hawthorns.

The 21-year-old kept the influential Conor Gallagher out of the game, winning two tackles and uncharacteristically a header according to WhoScored.

West Brom and Spurs are two different propositions though, and Bielsa will surely be crossing his fingers over the fitness of Klich for this one moving forward.

With the Whites having a defensive crisis in the heart of the defence, the last thing we all need right now is for the same to happen in midfield.
