‘What a player’ – Ian Harte makes top-four PL claim about ‘outstanding’ Leeds ace
Ian Harte has claimed that Leeds United defender Ben White has proved that he is good enough for a top-four Premier League side this season.
The former Leeds full-back made the big claim despite White only playing in Leagues One and Two before moving to Elland Road.
White is known for his ability on the ball and Harte claimed that quality sets him aside from other defensive talents.
Harte listed a handful of his attributes that makes him believe that White can make it to the very top of the Premier League.
“You look at where he’s started off, he was at Newport then he went to Peterborough, but what a player; very comfortable on the ball, he’s got pace,” he told Football League World.
“I think he struggled a bit when he came up against (Aleksandar) Mitrovic, but, let’s be honest, I think he’s been outstanding this season and a player of his quality, definitely, is good enough for a top-four club.”
Marcelo Bielsa made the bold decision to replace Pontus Jansson with the 22-year-old from Brighton and that has certainly paid off in West Yorkshire.
Leeds will have to battle clubs such as Liverpool for his permanent signature if they want it this summer, and Bielsa will certainly have the defender at the top of his priorities.
White’s ability to read the game is impressive, and he averages the most interceptions per game with 2.3 according to WhoScored – nearly double the number of Kalvin Phillips.
Andrea Radrizzani has already confirmed he will be placing an offer for White in the summer, and he will be hoping he can help Leeds become a force in the top-flight.
