Weston McKennie must grab Leeds United opportunity v Wolves amid Tyler Adams injury scare
Leeds United midfielder Weston McKennie may be handed another chance to impress Javi Gracia against Wolves on Saturday, following Tyler Adams’ worrying injury scare.
Adams has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Wolves after suffering a hamstring strain in training, according to news from Phil Hay reported on Wednesday afternoon [15 March].
The American international has established himself as a pivotal and key performer for the Whites since his move from RB Leipzig, featuring in 24 of their 26 Premier League games this season so far.
Hay, taking to his personal Twitter account to announce the news, tweeted: “Tyler Adams has suffered a hamstring injury in training and will miss Saturday’s game at Wolves. Also ruled out of international duty with the USA.”
Adams was also in line to feature for the US in the upcoming March international break in the CONCACAF Nations League matches against Grenada and El Salvador, but now looks set for a spell on the sidelines.
Now, the dynamic midfielder’s absence is sure to leave a gaping hole in Gracia’s squad for their upcoming crucial crunch relegation clash with Wolves on Saturday.

However, the Spaniard does have options to fill Adam’s spot, and that’s in his international teammate McKennie who has so far failed to deliver on his promise since his January move from Juventus.
McKennie has started six of Leeds’ eight games since his move but has yet to set the world alight so far, failing to register either a goal or an assist and was dropped for their 2-2 draw with Brighton last weekend.
The West Yorkshire outfit holds the option to make his move permanent in the summer for a fee of around £30m, but any kind of deal will be in serious jeopardy if he doesn’t register ten appearances or if the club are relegated to the second tier [Tuttomercatoweb, 2 March].
With Leeds currently sitting 19th in the Premier League table, McKennie’s immediate future is in real peril if the club suffer relegation at the end of the season, seeing as Juventus boss Max Allegri no longer wants him back in Turin when his loan deal runs out.
With Adams out of action, his American teammate will be fighting for his Elland Road future in his absence, starting against Wolves on Saturday.
