Weston McKennie Leeds United transfer off amid ‘very difficult’ Elland Road scenario emerges – Sky Sports pundit

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist as each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United

Paul Robinson expected more from Weston McKennie during the American’s loan spell at Leeds United.

According to former Eurosport journalist, Dean Jones, speaking to GiveMeSport (30 May), there are three or four Premier League clubs showing interest in the 24-year-old.

A return to Leeds now looks extremely unlikely after the Whites’ relegation and Robinson believes the Elland Road faithful made their feeling heard during the 4-1 loss against Tottenham.

“No, that’s a move that hasn’t worked. The fans expressed their opinion during the Tottenham loss,” Robinson exclusively told MOT Leeds News.

“He hasn’t hit the heights I’ve previously seen from him and the player that I was expecting. It’s been very difficult for him though. He’s played in a team that’s been fighting relegation.

“He’s played in a team that has had three different managers during the time he’s been there.

“It’s not been easy for him, but you would have expected more from him.”

McKennie made 19 Premier League appearances for the Whites after completing a deadline-day move to Elland Road whilst Jesse Marsch was in charge in West Yorkshire. However, the American failed to register a goal or an assist during his time at Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the future of one Whites-linked manager is now up in the air after a high-level resignation at his current club.
