West Ham will not sign Leeds United duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha

West Ham will not be signing Leeds United duo Kalvin Phillips and Raphinha, according to David Anderson.

The Mirror journalist has reported that the Hammers would like people to believe that they bid £50million for the duo in January.

However, he claims that they could be doing it just to appease their fans and there’s no chance of either of the two players moving to the London Stadium in the summer.

He wrote, “West Ham would like us to believe they bid £50million each for Phillips and Raphinha last month.

“Leeds may disagree and while there was contact from West Ham, they were swiftly rebuffed and no offers were made.

“So sorry West Ham. You can delude yourself that you are in the bidding to sign Phillips and Raphinha, when the truth is you are not.”

That settles it

It was bizarre to see a club like West Ham bid that kind of money for not one, but two players.

It was clear that they were briefing the media as they do not even have the funds to secure a transfer of that size.

They wanted to sign a couple of players in January but failed to make the right kind of bids that would see them move to the London Stadium.

If Raphinha or Phillips move, they’re going to join one of the biggest teams in England or Europe.

While the Hammers may have finished in the top six once and are possibly deluding themselves into thinking they’re a big club when that clearly is not the case.

In other Leeds United news, it is confirmed that the Whites made a ‘Strong offer’ to sign an ‘Exceptional’ Ligue 1 attacker with 10 G+A in 21/22
