Nantes attacker Moses Simon confirms Leeds United January offer

Nantes attacker Moses Simon has confirmed that Leeds United made a ‘strong offer’ to secure his services in the January window.

The 26-year-old, who is having an “exceptional” time at the African Cup of Nations with Nigeria, claims that a plethora of clubs were keen on securing his services.

However, he reaffirmed his commitment to the Ligue 1 side and wants to see out this season with them.

Speaking to Nigerian outlet CKD Media, he said, “Yes, it is true, my agent told me about some offers among all is Leeds United who came calling with a strong offer and well intention of sealing the deal immediately.

“My club want me to finish the season with FC Nantes and I really want to contribute my own quota to ensure we secure Europa league ticket at the end of the season, we are pushing hard for that.”

Worth keeping an eye on

From his comments, he doesn’t seem like someone who wants to end his career at Nantes.

At 26, he’s possibly ready to take the step up in his career and he knows it too.

He’s scored three goals and provided seven assists in all competitions this season, which isn’t a bad output in any way.

Whether or not his next destination is Elland Road remains to be seen, but it’s refreshing that he did not completely rule out a move to West Yorkshire.

Leeds are still going to be needing attackers in the summer as they failed to get anyone over the line last month.

We would not be surprised if they rekindle their interest in the Nigerian and possibly table another bid.

At that position, he will possibly be in a better position to assess his future and look to leave.
