Vinnie Jones hails Marcelo Bielsa, predicts Leeds United v Manchester United

Vinnie Jones has expressed his admiration for Leeds United manager Marcelo Bielsa and offered up his prediction for the club’s clash with Manchester United on Saturday.

Leeds open their Premier League campaign with a trip to Old Trafford this weekend looking to avenge the 6-2 humbling they suffered at the hands of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s men on their last visit.

In his EasyOdds column, former Whites midfielder Jones has backed the Whites to hold their own on Saturday.

He said: “I’m going for another tight affair on Saturday lunchtime with Manchester United at home to Leeds – and my boys will not be easily beaten away from home. Bielsa is a legend already in my book and I believe Leeds can really push on this season.

“A draw for me.”

Positive point

Of course, we’d love nothing better than to trounce our rivals at their ground on Saturday, but realistically, a share of the spoils would be more than acceptable as we look to gain a good footing in the 2021/21 campaign.

There have been a few eyebrows raised in recent weeks after some poor performances and results in pre-season friendlies, so avoiding another loss would at least appease the section of fans who have expressed major concerns going into the season.

It’s only a minority of supporters, but it’s still strange to see some fans concerned with meaningless games when Bielsa has consistently weaved his magic at Elland Road when it matters.

Last season’s thrashing at the hands of our bitter rivals would have caused great consternation among El Loco and his coaches, so they will love nothing more than to turn the tables on Saturday.

But, realistically speaking, taking a point against a squad worth hundreds of millions would be a positive achievement.
