Victor Orta & Marcelo Bielsa will meet over future of Leeds man Adam Forshaw

Leeds United midfielder Adam Forshaw was the talk of the town after the 1-1 draw against Leicester on Sunday afternoon.

His name on the starting teamsheet ended over two years of injury hell at Elland Road, and he thrived on that moment.

Joe Donnohue of Leeds Live has shared that it could even earn him a new contract should that form continue, with his current deal set to expire next summer.

Writing for Leeds Live, Donnohue shared that it could lead to Marcelo Bielsa meeting for showdown talks with Victor Orta.

“Forshaw’s contract at Elland Road expires in the summer, meaning he has just over six months remaining,” he wrote.

“Bielsa and Director of Football Victor Orta will over the coming months need to assess whether Forshaw can play a part next year.

“If that decision is taken, it will reduce their transfer objectives by one – a squad place unexpectedly filled.”

No brainer?

That all depends on one factor, and that is how the next six months go.

Forshaw was brilliant against Leicester on Sunday, no one is denying that, but there is always the fear hanging over his head.

There will be the fear that in the next six months, Forshaw will pull up once again and pick up another injury that could end his season.

If that happens, the midfielder can wave goodbye to more seasons at Elland Road – that is the harsh reality.

Bielsa was delighted with his midfield man and he would clearly hand him a new deal today, but it has to be right for the club financially.

This one may go down to the wire, and Andrea Radrizzani may want to see Forshaw make it until the end of the season with no problems and making a positive impact on the side.

Should he do that? A new deal is a no brainer.
