Victor Orta interview 'fake' as close associate of former Leeds United chief contacts journalist

An interview which emerged on social media regarding former Leeds United sporting director Victor Orta is believed to be fake, according to YEP journalist Joe Donnohue.

The Whites confirmed Orta’s departure on Tuesday 2 May, with manager Javi Gracia following the sporting director out of West Yorkshire after a dreadful run of results in the Premier League, leading to a possible relegation.

And an interview emerged on social media on Thursday evening [25 May] where an account posted some details of Orta’s reported quotes detailing his time at Elland Road.

However, Yorkshire Evening Post journalist Donnohue [25 May] has quickly denied an interview taking place with the Spanish chief.

Taking to his Twitter account on Thursday evening, he wrote: “An interview doing the rounds tonight purporting to be with former Leeds United director of football Victor Orta is fake, I’ve been told. A close associate of Orta’s has been in contact with him and denied the validity of the quotes published.”

That interview doing the rounds on social media regarding Orta’s time at Elland Road and his unfortunate departure would have certainly had anyone fooled, considering the account which posted it.

Leeds United fans are desperate to hear from the Spaniard himself regarding the going ins and outs at the club and what really led to his departure at the start of May.

Former manager Gracia came out and done an interview based on his experience at Elland Road and rather praised the former sporting director for his authenticity and friendship and a lot of fans will have certainly given time for Orta to do one too.

It’s certainly admirable for Gracia to come out and give an interview so soon after his sacking at Elland Road when he would have been forgiven for letting things stew over for a while before speaking out on what went wrong.

However, such a reported interview is believed to be fake quelling any details that may have come out on the matter.

In other Leeds United news, Andrea Radrizzani has met a mayor as he aims to step up his exit route from Elland Road.
