Leeds United: Andrea Radrizzani meets mayor in takeover bid, meeting scheduled on Friday
Leeds United owner Andrea Radrizzani has met Marco Bucci, the mayor of Genoa, as he ramps up his bid to buy Serie A club Sampdoria, according to Corriere dello Sport.
The Italian newspaper reported in their print edition on Tuesday (23 May, page 22) that Radrizzani has visited Sampdoria’s facilities after bidding to buy the crisis-hit club amid his efforts to sell Leeds to 49ers Enterprises.
It is understood that a shareholders’ meeting will be held this Friday (26 May) but Corriere dello Sport claims that will “most likely be deserted”.
Therefore, all could be decided in another meeting that’s been pencilled in for next Monday (29 May).
Speaking about the future of Sampdoria, Bucci said: “I hope that Sampdoria continues to live and I will do everything possible to make this happen.”
The Athletic journalist Phil Hay reported on Tuesday that in order to afford a takeover at Sampdoria, “Radrizzani would almost certainly require funds from the sale of Leeds to help secure the purchase of the Genoa-based club“.

Complicated
If Radrizzani needs to sell Leeds to buy Sampdoria, it makes you think that even if the Whites are relegated this season, the Italian businessman will be off.
49ers Enterprises have been ready to become full owners of Leeds for quite some time now and even a relegation to the Championship is unlikely to stop them.
They can see the potential this football club has and they will no doubt be confident in their ability to bring the Yorkshire giants back to the Premier League.
That’s all well and good but ultimately we hope it doesn’t come to that and a minor miracle happens this weekend when the final round of Premier League fixtures are played.
If Leeds do avoid the drop, it’ll be an almost-instant £400million-plus boost for Radrizzani and he’ll no doubt be able to buy Sampdoria easily.
Everything will be complicated if we go down but Radrizzani seems hell-bent on buying the Genoese club now.
In other Leeds United news, Chris Sutton, Micah Richards and Mark Chapman couldn’t believe what Sam Allardyce has done ahead of the crucial last day against Tottenham.
