Victor Orta crumbles under pressure as Leeds United change Raphinha plans

Leeds United are reportedly ready to reduce their asking price for Raphinha.

The Brazilian winger is expected to leave the club, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Barcelona. Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea are also vying for his signature, as reported by The Atheltic on 14 June.

The website reported that Leeds are open to selling Raphinha provided the club’s valuation of the player is met.

Now, what is the valuation of Raphinha?

Phil Hay, the most reliable journalist concerning Leeds, wrote for The Atheltic on June 3 that it will take a bid worth between £60million and £70million for the club to consider selling Raphinha this summer.

Barcelona could have signed Raphinha for less than half the amount quoted had Leeds suffered relegation last season. That hasn’t happened, and the Whites hold the upper hand at the negotiation table.

Instead, it seems, that Victor Orta and Leeds board are probably crumbling under pressure.

According to a fresh report from Sport (16 June), Raphinha has made it clear that he wants to leave and would hand in a transfer request if required.

The Spanish publication adds that Leeds would be willing to accept an offer in the region of £42 million for the winger, which is a reduction of £18-£28 million from their original demand.

Despite the fact, Raphinha still has a contract until 2024, the club look powerless now to hold on to their original demand. With Spurs and Arsenal yet to come up with a big-money offer, the Whites probably are forced to change their transfer plans.
