'Very, very good business' – Exclusive: Pundit makes Leeds transfer claim on deadline day

We’re delighted to welcome former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at Leeds United…

Paul Robinson has said that Leeds United have already done “very, very good business” in the summer transfer window and could yet add more players before the deadline tonight.

Leeds have signed three internationals in Rodrigo, Robin Koch and Diego Llorente and could add winger Raphinha on deadline day. The 23-year-old is currently having a medical at Thorp Arch.

Robinson said you have to give credit to Andrea Radrizzani for not just signing players, but signing “quality players”.

Talking exclusively to MOT Leeds News, Robinson said, “I think you’ve got to give credit to Andrea Radrizzani. Leeds took a financial risk to get to the Premier League. They invested a lot in the manager and his staff.

“And Radrizzani has done it again in the Premier League. He knows you can’t just run with the same squad that got you up from the Championship.

“Norwich tried it last season, they came up, hardly spent anything and went straight back down again. They fell away with a whimper.

“You know the squad needs bolstering and it needs to be the right sort of player. It needs to be a different calibre of player in the Premier League and you’ve got to give Radrizzani credit for that.

“He brought Bielsa in, and the manager and the Leeds scouting system have proved they’re capable of signing quality players.

“Look at the business they’ve done… They haven’t just signed players, they’ve signed quality players. It looks like very, very good business so far for Leeds, and it could get even better today.”

Rodrigo and Robin Koch both looked at home in the impressive 1-1 draw between Leeds and Man City on Saturday.

Rodrigo scored the equaliser – his first goal for Leeds – and could have had a hat-trick. He was denied what could have been the winner by a fantastic save from Ederson.

Koch was brilliant at the back after a shaky start to his Leeds career when he conceded two penalties in the first two games.
