Commentator rages at embarrassing journalist as he shares video clip of Leeds United boss Jesse Marsch

American commentator Maximiliano Bretos has blasted the English media for the reaction to Jesse Marsch’s post-match huddle in his first Leeds United game at the weekend.

After Leeds lost 1-0 away at Leicester on 5 March, Marsch got his players to form a huddle on the pitch.

It’s led to some over-the-top reactions, with Gabby Agbonlahor, Richard Keys and Andy Gray among those to slam the new Leeds manager.

Bretos, who’s a commentator for LAFC in the MLS, is repulsed by the way the English press has reacted to Marsch’s managerial approach after the Leeds boss hit out at the “ridiculous” response.

“The English media is acting like Jesse Marsch post game huddle included waterboarding the players. This is an embarrassment in journalism,” wrote Bretos via his personal Twitter account on 9 March.

Idiotic

Why do some sections of England’s football media have such an anti-American feel about them?

You’ve seen all the boring and tired old stuff from fans on social media, mocking the way it’s called “soccer” in the States and the comparisons to Ted Lasso.

But in reality, there have been a lot of great Americans in the sport and Marsch has every chance of being one of them.

Certain people need to stop looking down their noses at Marsch and realise this is a manager who’s worked in Europe already and wouldn’t be where he is unless he was good at what he does.

So what if he does a huddle? It’s not like Agbonlahor was never involved in one at Villa and we doubt it’s a new concept to seasoned broadcasters like Keys and Gray.

People are finding whatever stick they can to beat Marsch with at the moment and a lot of the criticism seems to simply boil down to the fact he’s American.

In other Leeds United news, one of Aston Villa’s international midfielders has been ruled out of the clash against Leeds.
