Update emerges on Leeds United interviews to hire new manager
Leeds United have reportedly begun the interview process to appoint a new manager after they decided to part ways with Jesse Marsch.
According to BBC journalist Adam Pope, they will be delving into a wider pool of candidates before making their decision.
However, negotiating with different manages makes it unrealistic to have a new manager in by Sunday for the Manchester United clash.
Via Twitter, Pope said, “Leeds United have started the interview process for a new head coach. There is an initial short list from those already in work before delving into a wider pool of candidates. The hope is to have an appointment before Sunday but negotiations could make that unrealistic.”
Time to interview
It’s good that the Whites have begun their interview process less than 24 hours after deciding to sack Marsch.
They want the new manager in time for the Manchester United game at the weekend which means that an announcement should be made by Friday at the latest.
This gives the new manager a couple of training sessions at the very least before a game against the club’s arch rivals.
Leeds cannot afford to hire another Marsch-esque manager and should get in someone with a proven track record and who can bring the best out of this youthful squad.

Kjetil Knutsen is one such manager who we think can deliver the goods and it remains to be seen if they approach him and if he’s actually keen on moving to Elland Road.
He will feel that he’s perhaps outgrown the challenge at Bodo and a new opportunity is now available to prove his credentials on the Premier League stage.
It’s also important that they interview different profiles as they need fresh ideas and see which manager’s philosophy is convincing enough to take this side forward.
In other Leeds United news, the Whites are now preparing to sign a former Barcelona defender in the summer and have already taken decisive steps towards sealing the deal.
