'Unreal' - Luke Ayling delighted for this Leeds duo after 'Massive achievement'

Luke Ayling has expressed his delight for Leeds United pair Liam Cooper and Ezgjan Alioski after they both qualified for EURO 2021.

Cooper and Alioski will be going into next summers’ competition with Scotland and North Macedonia after winning their vital playoff games on Thursday.

It will be North Macedonia’s first-ever appearance in the tournament, and the Scots will get their first experience of it in over 20 years after finally qualifying.

Ayling claimed it was a “massive achievement” with the rest of the squad bored at an unusually quiet Thorp Arch this week.

“It’s unreal for the pair of them,” he told LUTV.

“They are both playing for countries that haven’t been in there for the last however many years, so for them to be part of it is brilliant.

“Pleased for them, what a great experience it will be to go to the EUROs and play against some of the best countries in Europe, so definitely a massive achievement.”

The absence of Alioski at Thorp Arch will be a major reason behind the silence, although it would be hard to admit that they have actually missed that.

In all seriousness though, the Leeds duo deserves their place in Europe’s best competition, and it will be another opportunity to prove themselves at the highest level.

It’s been a huge jump into the Premier League for many of this Whites squad, and that comes with international recognition, and this case, plenty of success.

Ayling is spot on though, it is nothing less than they deserve.
