Tyler Adams wowed by Victor Orta as he reveals 30-page presentation that caught him off guard

Leeds United moved quickly to sign Tyler Adams in the summer, and Victor Orta’s presentation played a big part in convincing the player to join.

Just days after losing Kalvin Phillips to Manchester City, Leeds United swiftly brought in Adams from RB Leipzig for £20million. [Sky Sports]

The American midfielder has filled Phillips’ boots brilliantly this season and has become a fan favourite around Elland Road.

The 23-year-old didn’t take long at all to settle into Jesse Marsch’s squad, and he attributes his fast start to Orta, who wowed him during negotiations.

“Leeds and Victor caught me off guard, with how much they knew about me,” said Adams, as per The Mirror.

“The research that they did, they basically did a full 30-page PowerPoint presentation of statistics and how I can thrive in the Premier League.

“Victor gave me a lot of feedback on my game, where I can improve, also where I can have an instant impact and he continues to push me.

“When I had conversations with Leeds to go there, they knew a lot about me as a player and that excited me a lot, so as soon as I got there, I hit the ground running.”

Good, bad and the ugly

Leeds have truly seen the good the bad and the ugly of Orta this season. He did brilliantly well bringing in Adams, Brenden Aaronson and Rasmus Kristensen over the summer for small fees – all three have been regular starters under Marsch.

But the Leeds director has also had some howlers when it comes to transfer business. Daniel James looks likely to leave Elland Road just a year after he was purchased for £25million [BBC], and let’s not even start on the Jean-Kevin Augustin saga that’s set to cost Leeds millions for a matter of minutes on the pitch.

Orta’s hit rate when it comes to transfers is very hot and cold – as is most directors, but Orta stained his Leeds legacy this season with his outburst at Elland Road after Leeds scored a late winner against Bournemouth.

It prompted the Leeds United Supporters’ Trust to report Orta to the club, and the connection between the board and the fans has been distant ever since.

His passion for the club is undeniable but can often boil over. The Spaniard is now under pressure to deliver more signings over January.
