Tottenham Hotspur and Everton were interested in Leeds United winger Amari Miller

Leeds United made Amari Miller their first signing of the summer yesterday but Everton and Tottenham Hotspur were also reported to be keen.

According to The Athletic, the professional contract Birmingham City offered him arrived late, and Spurs and the Toffees started circling.

However, the recent exploits of Leeds under-23s and the club’s track record of promoting youth players to the first-team convinced Miller to choose them over others.

The Athletic adds that Leeds have paid just £200,000 up front on Miller but the deal could rise to £1.5million.

Another win for Leeds

The Elland Road outfit boast of some of the best youngsters in England, and they will be keen to prove their quality in the Premier League 2 Division 1 next season.

Leeds under-23s blew everyone away to win the PL 2 Division 2 last term, and Miller will be looking to impress in the side as they face elite opposition in 2021-22.

The youth team are also looking to bring in Celtic left-back Matthew Anderson [YEP] to join fellow Scotland youth international teammates Scots Stuart McKinstry and Liam McCarron.

We brought in the likes of Joe Gelhardt, Cody Drameh, Sam Greenwood, Crysencio Summerville and Dani van den Heuvel last summer, and Miller could also prove to be a solid addition as Leeds continue to prepare for the future.

Whites head coach Marcelo Bielsa will be keeping a close eye on the progress of the 18-year-old, and he could be playing Premier League football sooner rather than later should he impress the Argentine.

We have a potential world-beater on our hands, and Everton and Tottenham could be left to rue missing out on him in the future.
