Tony Gale: Leeds star Rodrigo was too desperate to score for Spain v Greece
Tony Gale has been left fuming at Leeds United forward Rodrigo while watching Spain take on Greece on Thursday evening.
The attacker came off the bench for the final half-an-hour of the 1-0 victory and had a couple of chances to find the back of the net.
Gale blasted Rodrigo, admitting that he was too “desperate” to get onto his left foot every single time he got the ball.
Speaking live on Sky Sports last night, Rodrigo’s desperation was clearly not impressing Gale as he watched on.
“I think he was desperate to get a goal tonight,” he said. “Because when he came on, he always trying to get it on to his left foot and score.”
Rodrigo wasn’t expecting to be called up by Luis Enrique during this break, so it is no surprise that he looked desperate.
The attacker was thriving in the final third, making constant runs behind the Greece defence and picking pockets that caused great problems.
Marcelo Bielsa will be delighted with his star signing of last year, who has really started to come into his own in the previous two months.
Gale noticed just how desperate he was to find the back of the net, and sometimes that can negatively affect the team and the player.
The goals have started to somewhat flow in recent weeks for Rodrigo, and hopefully, he can turn these desperate moments into clinical finishing and consistency in terms of finding the net.
