Tony Gale blasts Leeds star Rodrigo for Spain v Greece

Leeds United star Rodrigo earned a surprise call-up for Spain this week, and came off the bench against Greece on Thursday.

The Spaniard showed some promising glimpses but fluffed his lines when it looked easier to mark his return with a goal.

Tony Gale was left scratching his head after the chance and blasted Rodrigo before insisting that he is much better than that.

Speaking live on Sky Sports, Gale was not impressed with the final finish of the Whites star in the final third.

“That was a good opportunity,” he said.

“He’s normally better than that.”

He may have missed that chance last night, but Rodrigo is really starting to come out of his shell and it is brilliant to see.

In the absence of Patrick Bamford, the Spaniard has finally stepped up and shown some real skill and flair in the final third and long may that continue.

Luis Enrique will have been impressed with what he saw in Greece, with Rodrigo buzzing around the pitch after coming off the bench and putting some great moves together.

That number 10 role is really starting to become his own, and doing it on the international stage will only help the Whites and Marcelo Bielsa.

Yes, he likely should have scored, but the fact that he is getting these chances is great to see and hopefully, he continues this form in the Premier League.

We already can’t wait to see more of this new Rodrigo.
