Tony Dorigo has been blown away by Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier and his improvement in the Premier League.
The young Frenchman came in for big criticism after his disastrous afternoon against Arsenal but bounced back superbly at Wolves on Friday.
LUTV pundit, Dorigo, claimed that Meslier is becoming a “vital” part of the furniture at Elland Road, and will only continue to get better.
Speaking on the Big Match Preview on LUTV ahead of the game with Southampton, Dorigo was full of praise for Meslier and his reaction.
“This young man is performing at such a high level,” he said. “For a 20-year-old keeper, it’s tremendous.
“What I also like about him, at the start of games, he’s tried to slide that ball into the midfield or pick out that accurate pass to one of our midfielders, but at least for the first 10 or 15 minutes, I saw at times that pass may have been on but he went safe.
“He is learning when to do the right thing, I thought Meslier was great, then those saves, he was vital.”
Marcelo Bielsa puts full trust in his players, no matter what mistakes they make and he got the rewards for that with Meslier responding perfectly.
The 20-year-old has made 97 saves this season according to WyScout, and only three players have made more in the Premier League.
What is great about the young talent is that he will only get better, with this still technically his first full season of being the number one choice at Elland Road.
He is learning every game, and that isn’t a bad thing during this first season back in the big time with the Whites.
