Jeff Stelling has backed Leeds United to return to winning ways in the Premier League against Southampton on Tuesday evening.
The Sky Sports presenter has predicted the Whites will win 1-0 in a tight encounter at Elland Road in this rearranged fixture.
Southampton were meant to travel to West Yorkshire last month, but the game was postponed to help them fulfil their FA Cup fixture with Shrewsbury.
Writing in his Super 6 predictions on Monday, Stelling admitted that the Whites will have been major disappointed not to come away from Wolves with anything.
“Leeds will still be bitterly disappointed after coming away from Molineux without a point on Friday,” he wrote.
‘Southampton are winless in seven but ended a run of six consecutive Premier League losses with a 1-1 draw against Chelsea.
“It will not be the high-scoring game we are all accustomed to seeing at Elland Road, but Marcelo Bielsa’s side will earn another valuable three points.”
We’re not saying that tomorrow’s game is a must-win, but after two defeats in-a-row, it would be the perfect time to come out swinging.
As Stelling alluded too, the Whites squad will have been left scratching their heads on how they didn’t get anything from Wolves; Liam Cooper alone could have scored a hat-trick.
It would be more concerning if we were losing and not playing well, something that is never the case – although it is at Southampton.
Chelsea dominated them on Saturday, and they were lucky to not see their winless run in the Premier League extended to seven.
We must make that sort of dominance count if it comes.
