Times journalist shares if Leeds United likely to sign Weston McKennie or Tyler Adams

Jacque Talbot believes that Leeds United are likelier to pursue a move for Tyler Adams than Weston McKennie this summer.

According to the Sun, the Whites wanted to sign Juventus midfielder McKennie in January 2022 and he was said to be available for around £20million.

Links with Tyler Adams, the RB Leipzig midfielder, have been more recent with Sky Sports’ Florian Plettenburg claiming that he’s on the Whites’ shortlist for this transfer window.

When asked about both the midfielders, the Times journalist told Give Me Sport, “Yeah, I think so [McKennie interest]. I think there is the link, this sort of contingent that’s going on between Leeds United, America and the Bundesliga.

“I think there’s Tyler Adams as well. He played under Jesse Marsh last season before he was sacked in November, so that again is that link there. But I think Tyler Adams; probably a bit more of a chance for Leeds. He’d be a good one; he’d be a good player to get in.”

Kalvin Phillips replacements?

These players clearly look like replacements for Kalvin Phillips who has been linked with a summer move away from the club.

Manchester City and PSG are understood to be keen on securing his services and he could leave to play in the Champions League and regularly challenge for trophies.

In case he does, the club could target two more American players in McKennie and Adams who are both on the fringes at their respective teams.

They both would be easily attainable and would help Jesse Marsch kickstart his revolution at Leeds United.

It remains to be seen if Marsch does target his counterparts or if he asks Victor Orta to recommend someone from left field.

Leeds have tracked a number of midfielders over the last two summers and may even rekindle their interest in some of them.

In other Leeds United news, Fabrizio Romano has shared if a ‘Sensational’ defensive midfielder has agreed terms for an Elland Road switch and become the club’s fourth summer signing.
