Tim Sherwood and Ian Wright in disagreement over Manchester United switch for Leeds United ace Phillips

Tim Sherwood believes that Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips could leave for Manchester United in the summer.

The Red Devils are looking for a central midfielder at the end of the season and the former Spurs fan believes they could be in for Phillips.

However, due to the rivalry between the two clubs, Ian Wright instantly laughed off Sherwood’s suggestion.

On the Kelly & Wrighty Show, Sherwood said, “I don’t think he’ll leave for money. He’s a trophy man. If he goes to Manchester City or Liverpool, he might not play for them.

“He improves Manchester United, Spurs and Arsenal.”

To which Wright quickly interjected with a few laughs and said, “Man United, I don’t see it happening, given the rivalry between the two clubs.”

Sherwood then cited examples of two players who did it in the past, “It’s happened before with Cantona and Alan Smith so you never know.”

Not in a million years

Sherwood seems to be out of his mind to even suggest that an Old Trafford move could be on the cards for Phillips.

The Englishman bleeds Yorkshire blood and there’s no way he would want to cut ties with the fans that have given him everything.

Any of the other “big six” clubs may be suitable but he would not join the Red Devils for sure.

Given Raphinha’s seemingly imminent exit, Leeds may look to keep Phillips on for at least another year.

He can then gauge his options and see whether or not he still fancies moving away from Elland Road.

In other Leeds United news, the Whites are leading the race to complete a major signing and have already opened talks to seal a £25m deal.
