‘Three stripes at the ready’ – Phil Hay details when Leeds 20/21 kit will be revealed
Leeds United fans have known for a while that Adidas is going to manufacture the 20/21 kit, hopefully our first kit back in the top flight.
And they’re not going to have to wait much longer to see what it’s going to look like.
Talking on a Q&A ahead of the game against Blackburn, The Athletic journalist Phil Hay was asked, “Not about the match, but is there any news on when next season’s kits will be revealed?”
Hay replied, “Either just before or very soon after the last game of the season. So literally a couple of weeks time. Three stripes at the ready.”
Leeds fans have been waiting for solid news on the new kit release and this is an exciting update.
However, some of the anticipation has been tempered by a leak of an away kit that hasn’t gone down too well.
Phil Hay has said that this is not far from what it will look like but added that the image doesn’t do the kit justice.
MOT Leeds News columnist Paul Robinson thinks that it’s an opportunity for Adidas to produce a really “iconic” kit.
Robinson said: “You’d just like to think, teaming up with Adidas, a massive global brand, if Leeds are to go into the Premier League that it would be the chance to make a really iconic kit, white and gold, white and silver… a really smart kit.”
We really hope that they pull out all the stops. It’s a major deal for Leeds and if Adidas get it right we can see them selling record numbers of shirts.
The leaked away kit doesn’t really do it for us and we’re trusting Hay that it’s going to be better in real life than it is in the leaked image.
It’s not long until we get to find out, though. The season finishes on July 22 and by then we’ll also know if the new kit is going to be a celebration of our newfound top-flight status.
