Thomas Partey 'cause for concern' for Arsenal ahead of clash v Leeds United

Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is a real “cause for concern” for Mikel Arteta ahead of their Premier League clash with Leeds United on Saturday [1 April], according to the Daily Mail.

Partey, 29, was an unused substitute in Ghana’s African Cup of Nations qualifier against Angola on Monday 27 March, having played the full 90 minutes in the reverse fixture [23 March].

The Gunners sent a club physio to Ghana in a bid to keep the player fit and manager Chris Hughton confirmed after the match against Angola, that the Arsenal key man has a “small injury issue”, as relayed by the report [28 March].

And The Daily Mail writes: “The fitness of key midfielder Thomas Partey is a real cause for concern for Arteta.”

The Whites will be having some issues of their own ahead of Saturday’s crucial encounter for both teams, with Wilfried Gnonto [ankle] and Max Wober [thigh] both returned from respective international matches for Italy and Austria with injury troubles.

Midfield anchor Tyler Adams is set to face a spell out of the side after surgery on a thigh injury picked up before their 4-2 win over Wolves, and the Whites will be hoping that Arteta has endured some worrying international news of his own to his key stars.

And that certainly looks the case with Partey potentially out of action. The Ghanaian international has become a rock in front of the defence for the Gunners this season and his absence could certainly allow Leeds to run amok at the Emirates on Saturday.

The Whites will also be boosted by the fact that key centre-back William Saliba is also reportedly set to miss the game which hands Gracia and his men the chance to claim an unlikely scalp in North London.

Anything is possible in such a pivotal run of games to close out an exciting season.

In other Leeds United news, a club are now bracing for bids on the key man the Whites have already made an approach for.
