Thomas Frank gushes over Marcelo Bielsa ahead of Leeds United v Brentford
Thomas Frank has been praising Marcelo Bielsa in the press conference ahead of Brentford’s clash against Leeds United on Sunday.
The Bees manager has been awestruck by the Argentine in the past, especially during their Championship encounters, but this will be the first time they face off in the Premier League.
Frank claims that Bielsa was one of his biggest inspirations when he was moulding his career two decades ago.
He said, “Bielsa was my big inspiration. The first time I looked at his teams was in 2008 for Chile. He is one of the greatest.
“The way is Leeds team play is fantastic. It’s really unbelievable. You saw it against Crystal Palace.
“We’re slightly different as we don’t go man-for-man without the ball, but higher up the pitch, our pressing styles are quite similar.”

Bielsa has inspired dozens of managers over his years in the game and it’s fair to say that Frank is one of them.
The job the Brentford manager has achieved at the club is nothing short of phenomenal and he deserves all the credit in the world.
It will be nice to see how the two managers’ systems look to nullify each other as they’ve had some fascinating tactical battles in the Championship.
Leeds clearly will be looking to register two wins on the bounce for the first time this season and facing the Bees is the perfect opportunity to do that.
They’re a newly-promoted side and will be deflated after their recent defeat against Spurs.
The Whites, on the other hand, will have their confidence high after an impressive display against Crystal Palace and Bielsa will expect more of the same from his players on Sunday.
